ROOM 3
Susan Peacock, publican

Susan Peacock took over as landlady of the Tan Hill Inn, England's highest pub, in 1902. She ran it until her demise in 1937. At the start, it was an area of active coal mining, and she kept a pistol under the bar to deal with the rowdier elements. Her great nephew still return 4 times a year to clear the moss from the memorial scratched in the stone just to the north of the Inn.
