Many shops, more visitor orientated than others. Small supermarket. post office, chemists, specialist delicatessen, garage (open 7 days a week). Three walking shops (for boots etc). Two cheese shops, one in the Wensleydale Creamery and the other in the High Street run by the much smaller Ribblesdale Creamery. Market on Tuesday.

Disappointing range of shops. Large Co-op supermarket, post office,WH Smiths, three banks, opticians, delicatessen and general stores. Both the Castle and the Station are worth a visit, the latter being home to 8 local food & drink makers (cheese, beer, ice cream, chocolate etc). Market on Saturday.

About 2 miles outside Richmond. It is the British Army's largest garrison. Also home to a large, 24hr Tesco. Observe unusual signage during approach: eg "Warning: tanks emerging from behind bushes".
